SEMA PICS CLICK HERE!!

Wow, November already!!!

Not allot new in the bike world, Nicky Hayden finished up his first Moto GP Championship last week, nothing new in my world as far as bikes go. ...

I just got back from a little vacation with my wife, spent a couple weeks on the road, drove down to Las Vegas for the SEMA Show.

(think giant automotive trade/car show)

So for those of you who are interested I should have pics up later this week. ..

I would like to take a minute to bring up my street bike. ..

In the beginning of August I hit a deer on the way up to Mt. Baker.  I was fine, the bike was ride able, other than a bent front brake rotor, and some plastic damage. .

After some "negotiations" with ICBC I got the bike back with a check to cover the repairs .... .

Thanks to :

Thanks again to everyone involved with this quick little project, I was back on the road again within 4 weeks. ...

September 23 & 24th

Unfortunately, I was unable to attend this weekend due to work conflicts, however

I understand it was some of the best racing the WMRC has seen to date. ..

Congratulations to Oliver Jervis on winning another Superbike Championship, and best wishes to Steve Dick on his retirement from racing.

Thanks to the WMRC exec and members who made this fantastic year of racing possible. ... I'm looking forward to next season.

September 10th WMRC Race

Things went very well today !!

I started the day with a Breakfast of Tim Horton's coffee and bagel, with a Advil and Gatorade chaser, third full day of riding in a row. I've never been so sore!!

Morning practice, and I went out in the fast group, got a couple of warm up laps and was starting to find my rhythm. . I was looking for a good pace but nothing record breaking as I knew that at some point this session I was to be followed by the licensing director and hopefully bumped up to the amateur class for next season. . All was well, and I made the bump to Amateur, look for new numbers next season. ..

Qualifier was good, I got a good jump off the start and and pulled a nice lead of about 6-8 seconds on the second place guy. .. now I blame being tired or maybe it was that I didn't get enough caffeine, but I mistook the white flag for the checkered flag and slowed down one lap too early, allowing the second place bike to finish ahead of me and take the pole. ..

Race heat 1 was good, good start 2nd position heading into turn one, the leader and I broke away, but I just couldn't catch him, the weekend was catching up on me and I was just to tired to push any harder, 2nd place would have to do. .

Race Heat 2.. Horrible start, I fed way too much throttle too early off the start and had the front wheel way, way up in the air. ... went from 2nd to dead last before

turn 1 had to run really hard to make up places, and ended up going 2 wide into turn 4 with Mike Elliot, he ran wide through the grass, and we ended up watching each other as I came into turn 5 and he was trying to stop in the grass, got a little scary for a few moments ...managed to run down the third place guy and coming into turn 9 on the final lap I could have reached out and grabbed the tail of the 712 R1 but my 600RR doesn't have the power to chase down a liter bike on the straights so I had to settle for third place, but I did manage a new personal best lap time for 1:17.52... well below my goal of 1:20 for the year. ..

September 9th WMRC Endurance Race

What A Blast!!!!!!!!!

I've never even been to an endurance race, never mind been on a team before, way too much fun!!!! Shouldn't even be legal. .. Our team consisted of Dean Drolet, Bernie Dennis, Brent Pickeney, and myself. We all run approximately the same lap times, so consistency shouldn't be an issue. Dean was generous enough to offer up his F4i, and we all chipped in for the gas, tires and brake pads.  Unfortunately with the talent that showed up we never stood a chance at the podium.  We finished 8th overall.  The team to our right was Troy Burstyk, Eddie McNaughton, & Bez Cajee, with none other than Steve Dick as crew chief. To our left was Ken LaLonde, Stever Crevier, and Francois Levesque.  All these guys run consistently 5 seconds or more faster per lap than any of us.  But this was not about winning, this was about pure pleasure and a ton of track time. Watching the strategy of these to teams was extremely interesting, as one team went out on rains in the damp morning and changed over to full slicks later in the race, while the other used street Michelin tires all day. .  planning fuel stops, and the suspense of who could stay out longer before making rider changes or fuel stops etc...and the pit stop fiasco's .. too many men over the wall, 1minute penalty, no foot down in the stop box entering the pits, 1 minute penalty, wheeling out of the pit stall, no one saw that, no penalty, just tonnes of fun. .. I can't even explain it, can't wait for next year. ....

Crevier after the win!

September 8th WCSS Track Daze

Since last day out, I found that Racers Edge has put there Michelin DOT

Race Tires on sale for a great price, which forced me to buy 3 sets

of DOT's and 1 set of Rain Tires

The morning session was fantastic, I was initially nervous, being that I had brand new tires, which needed to be broken in gently, a new more sensitive throttle and I had finally put myself in the FAST group. . but everything changes once the visor goes down. .. a couple quick warm up laps to break in the tires and I was instantly comfortable, much more so than on the old Pirelli tires. Not to say that the Pirelli tires are bad, just the ones I had are old and hard.  The Michelins however were like glue. . and I was instantly 2 tenths faster per lap. . not bad for breaking in new rubber. ..  I just can't believe the amount of grip when fully leaned over. ...

The rest of the day was more of the same, more confident and comfortable all day long, ending with me setting a new personal best of 1:18.4

August 21st WCSS Track Daze

Again another great WCSS day, great weather, but I'm getting sick of this

35+ degree heat. .. I knew I should have bought the perforated leathers..

Bikes working better now that the shock has been set up.  A big Thank-you

to Rod @ RMR Suspensions for the work he put into the re-valving, much

more stable on corner exits, and almost no tire spin, but I'm still using old tires. ...

I again put myself in the slow racer group, I find myself spending a lot of time

passing slower riders and not really getting chance to work on improving

my times, so next time out I'll move up to the fast group and see what happens. .. also ordered myself the HRC quick-turn throttle, just because.

It's supposed to decrease the amount you need to twist your wrist before

you get to full throttle, basically making the throttle more sensitive..

should be fun. ..

August 17th

Took the bike to RMR Suspensions today, explained to Rod what I was feeling. ... we adjusted the rear shock as best he could, but the rebound adjuster is not working correctly, so the shock will have to be re-valved for

my riding style. And he suggests some newer tires. .

August 5th &  6th

I was unable to attend these events, as I took my wonderful wife on a

weekend trip to Seaside Oregon. .... very nice, quite and romantic, complete

with a long walk on the beach at sunset. ..

If your looking for a quiet, weekend get-away I would strongly suggest this area

6 hour drive down the coast, reasonable hotel pricing. We got upgraded to a suite with a jacuzzi tub over looking the ocean. .. very nice!!!
